Erica Jane Morris gained an MA in Writing Poetry (with Distinction) in 2019 from the University of Newcastle and the Poetry School, London. Her work has been published in literary journals and anthologies, and shortlisted or placed in international poetry competitions. Her collection, A Turning was shortlisted for the Live Canon Pamphlet and Chapbook Competition 2022. By drawing on a variety of voices, Erica’s recent poetry explores the resonances of loss and trauma, and the boundaries of rural and urban settings. She has been particularly inspired by the work of Elizabeth Bishop, John Burnside, Thom Gunn, Seamus Heaney and Jacob Polley. 

Erica is Head of Strategic Academic Practice at the University of Northampton and a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, who has has worked at Advance HE, Anglia Ruskin University and The Open University, UK. She studied Developmental Psychology (BA Hons) and Knowledge-Based Systems (MSc) at the University of Sussex, and gained her doctorate in Educational Technology (PhD) at The Open University.
